So I can honestly say that I am not a sponge snob but I do have preferences and opinions. I have all kinds - stipple sponges, cut up car wash sponges, Snaz "kit" sponges, tack sponges, sea sponges, green "professional" sponges. Personal opinion--they all work, some just work better than others for certain things. Stipple sponges for example are great for beards, bruising, road rash, etc. Car wash sponges are great for getting large numbers of sponges cheaply. Tack sponges are pretty good for blending and a nice "premade" size and shape. Current favorite - professional grade (my green ones blend super nicely and clean up really well). They are my little luxury but definitely not a necessity.

What sponges do you love or hate?

Wow...you really do have an awesome collection of sponges!

I really like the professional green sponges made by Diamond FX (similar to FWW sponges) or the Teal sponges made by Paradise - these come cut into 2 already which is awesome - they're also one of our most popular products - so a lot of face painters must like them!!

Also the Snazaroo Petal sponges are great for getting into the corners of eyes and making straight/angular lines etc.

You're totally right -- "they all work, some just work better than others for certain things."

With sponges and brushes it's what works best for you that counts. That's why there are different styles of doing just about everything.

Hi Philadelphia, do you know how to round the edges of a half round sponge...I saw it once but I tried to re-do it and didn't come right, thanks!

Hi Vange, I'm not sure about this one.

Why do you want to round the edges of a half round sponge?
I like them to be straight and have a sharp crisp line.

I've heard that freezing the sponges makes them easier to cut.
But I'm not sure about the round edges....

Pinching the corner of the round sponge will help get it in shape. Paradise green sponges and stipple sponges are my face but I have a ton of different kinds in my kit ;)

Vange, I just saw what you're looking for on FABA tv tips & tricks.
Christina Davidson showed how to cut the "corners" off her half
Sponge clipping back and forth on each side until it was pretty
rounded. She likes them that way, check it out. There are 60
tips by different artists & I saw them all.
