I thought that the tiger face was quite a good one by Kim. well done Kim. Regards Nina
I really enjoyed your step by step Tiger Video, it was nice for you to break it down and give the supplies used. Most face painters don’t take the time to do that. Great job, and keep them coming..
I take care of twin 5 year olds. The girl loves tigers and her favorite colors are blue and black. When she saw this face paint, she was quite excited to have her face done. Thank you.
Awesome Video !!!
I would love to see more… it’s great to see what colors look like when used!!
Awesome video! I was impressed with the quality of the work, the beautiful design, the amount of information given – I don’t feel confused about the techniques I saw or the products used. I especially like how you have the products she used for sale right along with the same e-mail. That is a wonderful idea for your business! Congratulations to Kim for her video and congratulations to you for your good business sales ideas. Sincerely, Kim Ewert
Thank you for this very excellent demonstration. I am just learning and I cant wait to try this. Also the Diamond paints look better than what I am using (Tag ). Thanks!
nice tutorial, I enjoyed it. You made it very easy to understand. What did you use at the end for the white dots? thanks, Kathleen
Member of Cowtown Clowns in Fort Worth , Texas, very nice tutorial, cute tiger cub .
I do some face painting ,but mostly clown around and balloon animals pipe cleaner angels at the hospital. Thank You,and Phillidelpia for this video, Happy Painting! E. P.
I just started looking into this business. I paint murals, portraits, etc. I think I can do this. There are entertainment companies that hire clowns, jugglers, face painters, etc. Are you required to have some sort of insurance and what is the approximate cost? Has anyone ever had an incident where the insurance was needed that you know of? What is the best starter kit recommended? What would you consider approximate start up cost with – paint, supplies (sponges, baby wipes etc.) I enjoyed the video very much. Everyone has their own style and it’s interesting to see the different interpretations.

your tiger video and detail were awesome.
I enjoy and learn a lot from your videos and e-mails and have been face painting for some time now but I do it for small fairs and markets for free with tips. When do I need a license and how do I go about it? I would like to expand and charge but not sure where to begin or what situations I would need one.
Can you help me please? Thank you
Sharon
That video and instructions are both great. I am definitely going to use that to practice. So many children like to be an animal. It is very explanatory. Thankyou truly
I love the colors you used. I get tired of the same old orange and white. I am going to try the fantasy colors next. Thanks for the info on the supplies. I have been looking for a reaaly solid black. I think I am going to give the DFX black a try. It looks real solid. Thanks for the video.
Loved the video. I am sick of the orange and white tiger. I am going to start doing the fantasy colors. Thanks for the supply list too. I have been looking for a solid white and black. These both look nice and crisp. Thanks again.
Oooh I always wondered how to do those squiggly lines! This video is so helpful. Thanks for making it!
I love your case with your diamond fx paints. Where do you get the case with so many holes and white size paints does it take?
thanks so much,
Christine
PS: Love your video. The blue tiger is great and Matt is a doll.
Also noticed your dog, is it a Shih Tzu?
Hi Christine,
Thats the Diamond FX Professional Case with Foam Insert – with a choice of either 30 holes for the 10 gram cakes OR 12 holes for the 32 gram cakes, you can find them here:

P.S You’ll have to ask Kim about the Dog, I’m not sure!
Wow what a lot of GREAT information you gave in this video! I learned so much! I’ve only done cheek art and am somewhat intimidated by a whole face painting. Please, please do more videos!!

Many thanks, really love all your face painting tutorials but would really love you to show me a leopard as have to paint my daughters face for World Book Day, she is a leopard. Another parent and friends daughter in same class as my daughter is going to be a dalmation, any chance of a tutorial on a dalmation too?
Thanks again, love your art and suggestions etc.

Great video. I’m not in to face painting – just yet

thank you i really enjoyed the vido.. hope to get more..lorraine
I loved your video. I have never face painted before, but it does seem like fun. I know it will probably take years of practice before I could do such a nice job!
At last. Some one who takes the time to explain while doing. I also like it how you give the brush sizes as well. Most demonstrators just tell you to “USE A BRUSH”. You make it look so easy. Looking forward to more of your demos
Thanks Kim,
For the thorough demo. Well voiced and informative. You do it right, devulging (is that a word?) everything, even what to do when you have an oopsie! I want to take my painting to another level but I think I have to quit my job first and I’m a chicken!!
loved ur video ! would love to see more!
what brand/type glitter pen was used at the end of the fantasy tiger tutorial?
It’s very interesting!I appreciate you for choosing fantacy colors instead of the same old orange and white compination.
I loved the step by step instructions the colors were very nice. I’m stil learning how to do this, you make it seem very easy. Working with kids and their moving around is not easy. I really enjoyed it. How can I get more into this and see more videos.
Hey Philly, i’ve been face painting for some years while simultaneously multitasking with other forms of childrens’ amusement. After seeing some really good face painters i have decided that i need to focus on more definition and detail for my subjects, as well as more vibrant colors. What types of brushes are better for thin defined lines?
Hi Kwan, what you want is a #2 Round Brush which can be found here:
http://www.facepaintingtips.com/shop/dfx-round-brush-2/
That was a great video…and what a cool boy!!!
Thanks for the awesome video!!!!!!!!!!
thank you-loved it! i learned how to do the background colour-cant wait to have a face painting session!
Do you need to put powder on to set the paint when you are all done with the face painting?
Hi Judy, nope, don’t need to
Although some makeup artists will, to give it that little bit extra staying powder, if you’re just painting kids/doing parties you don’t need to.
If you’re doing a long stage show/runway/photoshoot/film/competition then you may want to.
Wow ! Just beautiful
I’m inspired
Your website is really great!
I like how you explain the different tools needed for that particular face painting
Very informative demo video
I’m a newbie at this so thanks for the great lesson. Nicely described.
Awesome video , I like your methods! I’m just starting out at this having been a ceramic artist and I do henna as well. Thank you for your willingness to help and share your methods with us! I think you’re a good teacher! Mat was sooooo patient! I know it’s hard to keep a 5 year old sitting still! LOL He did good!
Again, Thanks!
Terri
this is soooo awesome…..and the video hepls soooooooooo much than the step by step thing………..i really like this and thank you very much……………
best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi,
I loved the blending of the colours not to give definate colours and the wiggle on the lines to make it more realistic. Do you have a photo of a female tiger?
Kathy
That was such a good tuturial, thanks
I love the tutorial it was really inspiring this is somethimg that i really want to pursue
Hi Kim – great video; like your style. What did you use to put the white dots ontop of the balck stripes – it didn’t look like a brush. Thanks. Steph x
She used Paradise Detailz White. It’s a small bottle of white face paint with a dotting applicator. You can order it in our paradise paints section here: http://www.facepaintingtips.com/paradise

Hi. you did awesome. I try to practice and learn.
My question is what kind of water paint ( liquid or powder ) we should use. And before coloring on each step you put sponge or brush in water or not necessary? And what kind of sponge do I need and where I can by?
To whom should i start and practice? If No kids available?
Is not better for a small design first or does not matter?
I really like to Buy stuff and practice by myself. But what you suggest should get
a classes or just I need practice by myself?
Thank you for you kindness.
That was a really good tutorial, thanks for sharing. For I am new to face painting but is enjoying every tutorial you post. Oh and your handsome tiger.
Thank you for sharing
Awesome!!! What a wonderful video! Thank you for sharing your skill and talent with us. Please thank Matt, too, and tell him that he’s a great tiger! I have always used Snazaroo paint. How does FX compare? Is it the kind of face paint that you always use?
Thank you!
Natalie
Hi Natalie,
DFX is a lot stronger than Snazaroo, the colors are much bolder and brighter. They are also still bold and bright when you paint one color over another like white over black. DFX is a little thicker and a little harder to wash off then Snazaroo but it isn’t a problem. With Snazaroo the colors tend to dry a dull color where as DFX will stay vibrant. We use a variety of paint from DIamond FX to Mehron/Paradise and Snazaroo
wow…….. so much amazing. thank you so much……where can i get the paints and brushes?how much it will cost?
You can buy face paints and brushes at http://www.facepaintingtips.com
the way of explaining things was really good. where can i purchase those paints and brushes……?i watched the green tiger it was superb.thanks a lot……
you were awsome look im kind of a biggener face painter and well i want to know where you buy the paint and the little thing you used at the end to make the white dots on the tigers forhead lines thanks i would apreciate it
The Paradise Detailz that was used to make the white dots can be bought here: http://www.facepaintingtips.com/shop/paradise-detailz-white/
Dose it matter what type of brushes you use? Are they make-up or just a canvice type? thanks
Hi Jay, generally you will want brushes with firm yet soft bristles that don’t scratch the skin and feel nice and smooth. Check out our range of brushes here: http://www.facepaintingtips.com/shop/category/brushes-sponges/
thank you Kim, wonderful tiger. question…what brand brushes did you use? i love your extra touches. p.s. how did you get my dog “pepper” on your show ? looks just like our black cocapoo. dottie
Hi, i like the vedio…… i am pretty new and got one doubt.
When we use different colours, then isnt it spreads? if so how to avoid spreading?
or do we need to wait till it get dry…?
Hi Srilu – I would suggest using less water to get it to stop spreading too much
Hey there! I absolutely love the blue. Great choice of colors! I am just learning. I have an opportuninty to paint some of the kids faces at the Childrens Hospital this month here in Modesto. I’m not sure if I’ll be ready, but I’m hopeful. By the way, your son is adorable! I was showing my wife your video. LOL! thanx:)
hi, I live in california where can I buy the paints diamondFX THANKS
Our warehouse is in California and we sell Diamond FX. You can buy from us online at http://www.facepaintingtips.com -Shipping with California usually takes about 2 days
That was really god .
I just thought that it was great how you broke it down
like how you broke it down could you show me a simple halloween face for boy and girl as i do a lot of fundraising .This would be good for me to do and to not us a lot of paints as this will cost and it is all about fundraising for a worthy course
Great job Kim ! Again very informative…..the point about blending was good.
New at face painting ……Fran D
Thank you for the demo. Am just starting and have questions. How do you apply the glitter? Have volunteered to do 350 little ones for the Boruca Indian X-mas party, any suggestions? Thanks, Kim
Very effective and completed in good time!! The alternative colour use is brilliant!Thank you.
Dearest Kim, You are amazing! I love the step by step tutorials (tiger and butterfly), easy to follow. Can’t wait to master face painting and like you have so much fun doing it. You kids are great. Thank you so much for your selfless contribution.
Genial me encanta.
I love this easy step by step lesson on how to make a tiger face which make in handy, because next week I’m doing a birthday arty and they want me to do animal faces and I know the boys are going to love this! Thank You Face Painting, I’m glad I found you.
This was very interesting and very helpful thanks!
You are realy talented. All I used to do was a yellow blended into orange face with a white mussle. Then just add black lines. Unlike you I am quite bad at it.
My names Yolanda, I’m 14, and i am just starting out with facepaints! I’ve been doing it for a few months, with usually doing birthdays etc once or twice a week. I just orded some sets of Diamond FX paints and i just have some quick questions.
Do you need to spray water on them every time?
Can they dry out and not be used?
Is it messy? (Do the paints spread over the case?)
Thanks
You can either spray the paint with water of wet your brush/sponge – it’s up to you. When you’re finished with them they store dry, put the lid back on and when you come to use it again spray them with water or wet your brush/sponge to activate the paint.
As long as you’re careful it shouldn’t get messy
Thank you for this tutorial video. You are so awesome and you make it looks so easy. This is my first time and I am so excited to try doing it on my own.
that was so great hopefully i can do a great ob as you so easily did ……
i meant a great job as you did …..
