I love your comments everyone!
Great idea Harmony, including the hand in the painting would really add to the design.
It is a nice touch to have the mum cradling her belly in the pics - I have found it helps her to pose as often she doesn't know what to do with her hands. It can also be nice to take some close ups with out the hands, to have a clear image of the design for your records.

To help with the belly changing shape when the model stands/lies, I sketch the design on the belly (using watery white paint) first in a standing position, this helps me keep the design balanced, and allows the mum to change position during the process.

I look forward to more of your wonderful comments and ideas.

more tips on the subject:
- when taking a picture have the expectant mother put her hand near the belly, so you can see it's a pregnant belly. you can paint on the hand as well, of course. Try to take a picture a bit from the side and not fully frontal, as the latter position flattens the whole effect.

Great tips...

...also, keep in mind that the design may be nice and round when mom is laying down while you paint, but as soon as she stands it will probably elongate thanks to gravity : ) The younger the mom (especially if it's her 1st baby) and further along the baby is developed, the less change will occur.
