“Face Painting in Spanglish”
Sent in by Patrice Bowes

Hi everyone! I thought I would share a quick story that happened recently. I am fairly new in the world of face painting, but having a blast. Recently My company was asked to provide our services at a festival celebrating the Hispanic culture. Pretty Butterfly Girl painted by Patrice BowesI thought it would great – there are kids there right?

When I arrived I realized I was one of the few that did not know spanish, I tried in school. I thought – “great, what am I going to do?”

Well as it turned out … no worries… fun and smiles are universal! By using the few pictures and a lot of hand signals, we managed to satisfy over 400 clients that day!

And I learned a little spanish! so it goes to show we may not be able to fix the world but we can sure paint it brighter!

Thanks for sending this in Patrice. Short and sweet, great story about the universal language of art! I’ll be posting the rest of the stories until the end of February when I announce the winner.

Happy Face Painting :-)
