I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say that your display board is pretty crucial for your face painting business at bringing in new customers when you’re out face painting right?
I thought I’d give you a simple way to make your own display board for face painting designs from home, that won’t cost you an arm and a leg!
* First of all, take photos of your face painting designs. Make sure you’ve got good lighting and the photos are nice and close up. Also makesure that your models are smiling in the photos, you won’t impress people with sad or cranky looking models now, will you?
* Then print them out and glue them to a piece of cardboard carefully and neatly. Think about where you’re going to place each photo before you glue them down.
* Makesure to put a title at the top with your Company Name/Stage Name.
* Laminate the cardboard, then stick that to a thicker piece of board (the kind of one that has foam inbetween maybe) And find a way to prop it up like maybe put it on your table between two books.

Hi, What I did for a display board was, I drew my designs and colored them in and then I cut them out and taped them onto a poster board and then laminated it. I bought a artist easel to set the board on. I also made a smaller version and laminated it also so I can have it by me. Also, each design is number and that way the kids can tell me what number and then I look it up on the small one and paint away. I am also planning to have a board with photos also.

I bought an acrylic, 8 x 11 picture stand from Office Depot for about $5. I inserted a copy of my designs (very few; remember I’m still learning!) and I keep it on the table where I’m working. It’s pretty durable, which is good because the kids love to pick it up and pass it around. I think one toddler even licked it! How he ended up with it, I don’t know. It’s a good thing I had some sani-wipes!
I have a lovely white twirly wrought iron stand from a shabby chic shop and use for my display board. I like pop up a sign with a just a couple of gorgeous photos and and lots of written ideas. I don’t like working from photos alone as I find that it can be a little limiting. I find if I leave it open I get all kinds of weird and wonderful request!

When making my display boards, I found that printing my pictures on my personal printer wasn’t working very well…. took lots of ink, etc… so, now I simply upload my digital prints to my local Rite Aid or Walmart and get “real” 4×6 photo prints, and use these on my boards now! I change my pictures often, depending on what I am doing, so I only put a sticky on the back of each picture so I can remove them easily, later!
Today, I just bought some very colorful 4×6 size albums from the dollar store and I plan on putting my pictures in these and have them out along with my MAIN board for those in line to look through!

HI I am about to make my board and my Idea was to go to a local recycle depot where they sell the things that are in good condition. I thought if I pick up a very large wooden picture frame (with out the glass even) place my design on a sturdy poster and put it in the frame . I am an artist so I thought to paint my own logo at the top and place the best pictures I have under it.
And on my table, I would also get a small picture frame and print of my logo with my details on it,showing proof of insurance.Then layout any promotions next to it for people to pick up.
I change my pictures a lot. I use 4 x 6 photos. I purchase those inexpensive photo albums that have black pages with a thin plastic film that you slide your photos into. I take the albums apart and mount the black pages on my poster-sized, black foam board with mounting tape. Whenever I want to change my photo, I just slide it out of the top of the photo page and slide in a new one. Easy!
One thing i did and really works well is I bought the large,metal wreath holder stands that people use for cemeterys. They stick into the ground or can attach with a bungee cord to any stand. Then I use large foam board pices and use fun paperclip binders to attach it. On them I am like everyone elese I have learned that you need different boards for different places so I started the photos either photo copied or printed out at local store with a price attatched and I laminated them. Then on the boards I used the photo corners for scrapbooking this way you can switch them out for different events very easily the ones not in use put in a binder at your table for people to look at. It is a little time consuming at first but it is worth it in the long run you never know what kind of weather you are going to have. I am going to do the disclaimer at my table for what kind of paints i use and so on that is a great idea! OH and I bought a mirror that stands on its own so the kids can watch and see after ,I have had to many kids break my hand held ones. I always have issues with my water keeping it clean and warm gonna try some of the other ideas for that too Thanks Teresa
I personally use a photo album or books of designs from other artists and slightly modify the design to make it my own on each model. The models love having something to look at and I have something to use as a guide since I am just starting to document my own work.
I recently went to a fair and the face painter had made a display board “book” by taking 16 x 20 inch poster frames with plexiglass (that are available at Dollartree or framing stores) and staggering them on a rack. The rack of boards was at the outer edge of her canopy. Each board had photos/designs in exact size with each design numbered and cost range grouped together. She also had a small lamenated 8 x 10 sheet with the designs numbered as a guide for painting at her workstation.
I am continually trying new ways to display my pics. I have a wooden stand painted with magnetic paint and my laminated pics have thin magnet sheets on back atTached with double sided tape. I can rearrange and change any time. Have prices i can change also. I have another board that is velcro. My laminated pictures can be reaaranged too. I have tried light weight picture frames and clear art envelopes, they come in dfferent sizes. I have a variety of choices for situations and conditions. i look for artist easels at second hand shops and repaint colorful if needed. I may have a vinyl banner made of favorites as i still loose pics occasionally to rain even when laminated. Most pics are 4×6 or larger. Big is better. Sometimes i use a hand painted board for cheek art. Happy painting to all!
I used photoshop to do a digital montage then printed and laminated. I have a white angel display stand that I use.

Thanks for good ideas especially taming the queue , I have one parent who comes each year to the Church Fete , she always tries to queue hop and can be quite nasty when challenged. I like your ideas for a board I don’t have one at the moment.

Hi everyone, I have a portfolio which is A4 size I place my photo prints on to colourful card and place within the sleeves I also have a display hanger it is a large sheet with pockets it works great as I can hang it in my canopy and they fold up and can be folded away easily I love them!!! Do love the ideas that some of you have posted, especially the artist essel. NeT
